This study was conducted to examine the influence of the following apple juice treatments on different parameters of cidermaking process: sulphiting (50 mg/L of total S02), clarification with pectolytic enzymes (Ultrazym 100 G, 3g/hL), and bentonite fining (lOOg/hL). The different treatments slowed down alcoholic fermentation, the greatest effect being found for the combination of the three treatments. With respect to malolactic fermentation, must sulphiting, with or without the other two treatments, delayed this process, which took place after alcoholic fermentation. The low levels of lactic acid bacteria during this period can explain this delay. The only treatment that had any significant influence on volatile acidity was sulphiting, either on its own or in combination with the other treatments. A time temperature integrator (TTI) was developed by immobilizing Bacillus stearothermophilus spores in a cylindrical particle consisting of an alginate-starch-mushroom purée. The particle showed homogeneous spore distribution,
and when heated over a temperature range of 121 – 130° C negligible spore leakage was observed after the thermal process.
The experimental data on spore survivor levels obtained for each temperature-time combination were compared with theoretical
predictions using a mathematical model. The results showed a good correlation between the experimental and theoretical data.
All these results provide evidence that this artificial particle could be a very reliable TTI for monitoring the thermal impact
on micro-organisms during validating sterilization processes in continuous aseptic systems.

Macrosiphum euphorbiae, also known as the potato aphid, is a potato virus vector, associated with decreased tuber production. Feeding, toxicity, and reproductive effects of the major potato glycoalkaloids (α-chaconine and α-solanine), their common aglycone (solanidine), and a nonpotato glycoalkaloid (α-tomatine) and its aglycone (tomatidine) onM. euphorbiae were studied. As expected, neither α-chaconine nor α-solanine had a strong lethal effect on the aphid, but α-chaconine stimulated feeding at low concentrations. Both aglycones were deterrent and lethal at high concentrations and, like α-chaconine and α-tomatine, they delayed the appearance and decreased the number of nymphs. 相似文献

The Penzym is an enzymatic test widely used for the detection of beta-lactam antibiotic residuals in milk. It is a specific method with good sensitivity to this group of antibiotics and enables results to be obtained within a short time. In the present work, the detection limits of 10 beta-lactam antibiotics were determined in ewe milk, given the lack of previous studies of the Penzym test in ovine milk. For each antibiotic, eight concentrations were tested on 20 ewe milk samples proceeding from individual ewes (160 analyses per drug). The limits of the Penzym test were determined by means of logistic regression models, as follows: 5 microg/kg amoxicillin, 4 microg/kg ampicillin, 33 microg/kg cloxacillin, 3 microg/kg penicillin "G," 43 microg/kg cephadroxil. 10 microg/kg cephalosporin "C," 16 microg/kg cephalexin, 900 microg/kg cephoperazone, 120 microg/kg Ceftiofur, and 77 microg/kg cephuroxime. The percentages of positive results for those antibiotics at the maximum residue limit (MRL) concentration established by the European Union (EU) were: 100% (penicillin "G"), 93.3% (ampicillin), 93.3% (cloxacillin), 56.7% (Ceftiofur), and 56.7% (amoxicillin). 相似文献

Surface integrity (SI) and, particularly, the residual stress profile, has a great influence on the fatigue life of machined aeronautical critical parts. Among the different cutting parameters that affect the final SI, tool geometry is one of the most important factors. In particular, tool nose radius determines the surface roughness, as well as the thermoplastic deformation of the workpiece. Indeed, the use of large tool nose radius in the industry enables (1) increasing the feed rate while keeping the roughness values below specifications and (2) reducing the influence of the tool wear in the surface roughness. Therefore, in this study, the influence of tool nose radius in the induced residual stress profile and work-hardened layer when face turning Inconel 718 is analysed for a cutting speed range between (30–70 m/min) and a feed rate range of (0.15–0.25 mm/rev). For this purpose, residual stress profiles and work-hardened layer were measured by x-ray diffraction method after machining with a 4 mm nose radius. Then, results have been compared against different tool nose radius studies carried out by other authors for the specified working conditions. Results revealed that residual stress profiles varied when machining with different nose radius for the studied range. In particular, the increase of the nose radius brought to a higher difference between surface tensile stress and subsurface compressive peak stress, which is attributed to an increase of the thermal effect. Early lactation Holsteins cows (15 primiparous and 18 multiparous) were offered rations with dietary cation-anion difference, calculated as mEq (Na + K − Cl − S)/100 g of feed dry matter (DCAD:S), of 20, 35, or 50 mEq from d 0 (calving) to 42 d postpartum (August 20, 2000 to January 9, 2001) to determine the effects of increasing DCAD:S on dry matter intake (DMI), milk yield, and blood metabolites. For DCAD:S of 20, 35, and 50, DMI was 3.30, 3.38, 2.96 kg/100 kg of body weight (BW); milk yield was 25.5, 24.2, and 22.4 kg/d, respectively. No differences were observed for concentration or yield of milk fat or milk protein. Serum Ca, P, Mg, Na, K, Cl, cation-anion difference, insulin, and glucose did not differ with DCAD. Serum HCO3− was 26.07, 25.88, and 27.64 mEq/L for 20, 35, and 50 DCAD:S. Serum Ca, Mg, Na, and K concentrations were greater for primiparous cows (9.52 mg/dL, 2.35 mg/dL, 140.03 mEq/L, 4.66 mEq/L, respectively) than for multiparous cows (9.27 mg/dL, 2.12 mg/dL, 137.63 mEq/L, 4.46 mEq/ L, respectively). A DCAD:S between 23 and 33 mEq/ 100 g of dry matter (DM) appears to be adequate during cool weather for the milk yield that occurred in the present study based on DMI (kg/100 kg of BW), whereas DCAD:S of 50 mEq/100 g of DM may be excessive and could be too alkaline or unpalatable, resulting in decreased DMI (kg/100 kg of BW). 相似文献

In the presence of iron (Fe), dissolved organic matter (DOM) may bind considerable amounts of arsenic (As), through formation of Fe-bridged As-Fe-DOM complexes and surface complexation of As on DOM-stabilized Fe-colloids (collectively referred to as As-Fe-DOM complexation). However, direct (e.g., chromatographic and spectroscopic) evidence and fundamental kinetic and stability constants have been rarely reported for this As-Fe-DOM complexation. Using a size exclusion chromatography (SEC)-UV-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) technique, arsenite (As(III))-Fe-DOM complexation was investigated after adding As(III) into the priorly prepared Fe-DOM. A series of evidence, including coelution of As, Fe, and DOM from the SEC column and coretention of As, Fe, and DOM by 3 kDa MWCO centrifugal filtration membrane, demonstrated the occurrence of As(III)-Fe-DOM complexation. The kinetic data of As(III)-Fe-DOM complexation were well described by a pseudofirst order rate equation (R(2) = 0.95), with the rate constant (k') being 0.17 ± 0.04 1/h. Stability of As(III)-Fe-DOM complexation was characterized by apparent stability constant (K(s)) derived from two-site ligand binding model, with log K(s) ranging from 4.4 ± 0.2 to 5.6 ± 0.4. Considering the kinetics (within hours) and stability (similar to typical metal-humates) of As(III)-Fe-DOM complexation, this complexation needs to be included when evaluating As mobility in Fe and DOM rich environments. 相似文献

One hundred twenty-four cows (92 multiparous and 32 primiparous) were used to evaluate the effect of grain supplements containing high crude protein [(22.8% CP, 5.3% rumen undegradable protein (RUP), dry matter basis], moderate CP (16.6% CP, 6.1% RUP), and moderate CP with supplemental RUP (16.2% CP, 10.8% RUP) on lactation performance of Holstein cows rotationally grazing annual ryegrass-oat pastures. Supplemental protein was provided by solvent extracted soybean meal in the high CP and moderate CP supplements and as a corn gluten meal-blood meal mixture (2.8:1) in the moderate CP, high RUP supplement. Cows were blocked according to previous mature milk equivalent production and calving date (partum group; 0 d in milk or postpartum group; 21 to 65 d in milk) and randomly assigned to dietary treatments. Grain was individually fed, at approximately a 1:3 grain to milk ratio, before a.m. and p.m milkings. The study was replicated during two grazing seasons that averaged 199 d. Cows had ad libitum access to bermudagrass hay while on pasture (dry matter intake = 1.3 kg/d). Protein supplementation had no effect on study long pasture dry matter (12.7 +/- 1.0 kg/d) or total dry matter (23.9 +/- 1.2 kg/d) consumption. Protein concentration did not affect actual milk yield of either calving group (high CP vs. moderate CP); however, postpartum group cows receiving high CP grain supplements maintained greater milk fat concentrations (3.34 vs. 3.11%), which led to higher fat-corrected milk (FCM) yields than control cows receiving moderate CP grain diets (30.3 vs. 28.9 kg/d). Crude protein concentration in milk of high CP-supplemented, postpartum group cows was also higher than moderate CP cows (3.42 vs. 3.27%). Additional RUP did not increase FCM yield above that generated by moderate CP grain diets for partum (34.3 vs. 32.9 kg/d) or postpartum-group cows (28.9 vs. 28.2 kg/d). Increasing CP concentration of grain supplement did not affect milk yield of Holstein cows grazing immature winter annual pastures. Supplementing additional RUP was without benefit, indicating that in this study energy deprivation may have been the major nutritional constraint for high-producing dairy cows grazing lush pastures. 相似文献
